Derrick Uittenbosch
Derrick's interest in apologetics sparked while completing his BA at the University of the Fraser Valley. As president of the UCM Christian club on campus, writer for the student newspaper, and organizer of creative outreach events on campus, Derrick engaged regularly with students, staff, and faculty on the wide variety of topics related to the hope we have in Jesus Christ.
Derrick spent 10 years with the RCMP serving in General Duty, Mental Health Quick Response, Marine Unit, Federal International Drug Unit, and then promoting to Corporal in Northern BC and serving as a Watch Commander. He is a recipient of the BC Meritorious Service medal, and three Commanding Officer commendations for valour.
With a passion for the church, Derrick has volunteered extensively in his local church teaching youth and young adults for over 10 years, as well as co-founding an at-risk youth outreach non-profit focused on reaching some of the forgotten youth of our society. Derrick has served on multiple non-profit and academic boards, consulted on governance matters for churches and outreach organizations, and loves to chair a good discussion!
Derrick and his wife Kylie live in Northern BC where they homeschool their four kids, serve as foster parents, and are actively committed to their local church where Derrick preaches occasionally. Kylie runs a classical education homeschooling co-op and trains the family's Irish Wolfhound.
