Dr. Harry Edwards

Dr. Harry Edwards is a Christian apologist, educator, and ministry leader whose life’s work centers on one urgent conviction: the Church must reclaim its role as a defender of truth.

Married to Minerva and father of two adult sons, Harry’s faith journey began in a Christian home but crystallized in his 20s when he discovered the discipline of apologetics; the intellectual and spiritual tools to connect Christianity’s truth claims with reason and real-world experience. That discovery exposed a sobering gap: these tools were being taught in academic institutions, not in the local church where they belong (Jude 3; 1 Peter 3:15).

Rather than follow a conventional academic path toward completing his Master of Arts in Christian Apologetics at Biola University, Harry took a bold step, founding Apologetics.com, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization (in lieu of a thesis paper), dedicated to defending Christianity online, on radio, and beyond. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education and a Doctor of Ministry in Leadership & Global Perspectives from George Fox University.

His doctoral dissertation, “Contextualizing and Defending the Gospel for Gen. Z: A Chastened Rationalistic Approach to Christian Apologetics,” is the academic capstone of this mission. It tackles one of the most pressing challenges facing the Evangelical church: the rapid spiritual disengagement of Generation Z.

As the number of religiously unaffiliated Americans (“nones”) has doubled in recent years, even amid steady church attendance, Harry argues that the standard response of more theology education alone is insufficient. Drawing on research that affirms theory and practice as essential learning tools, he proposes a chastened rationalistic pedagogy, one that moves beyond pure cognitivism to embrace embodied, experiential faith formation tailored to a generation already predisposed to this approach. In short: to reach Gen. Z, the Church must teach and show — not just argue.

Beyond his kingdom work, Harry is passionate about mentoring others, and in his personal time enjoys tennis, camping, backpacking, and movies with family and friends.
